Sir Anthony Hopkins made a surprise appearance at a chip shop in Port Talbot, Wales – much to the delight of locals.

Sir Anthony 87, returned to his birthplace Port Talbot and was snapped visiting his favourite chip shop, Steve’s Fish Bar in Taibach.

The Silence of the Lambs actor was seen posing with the staff and chatting with people in the shop as they put in their orders.

Sharing snaps of the star on Facebook, the chippy’s owner wrote: ‘He’s back again for his fish and chips!’

Another shared a snap of the actor with the caption: ‘The Man the Myth the Legend! Sir Anthony Hopkins. In his hometown of Port Talbot, this week for his fish & chip supper at Steve’s chippy, the street I was born in.

‘He is never bothered when he visits home, we love him & he loves us!’

The Oscar-winning actor dressed down in a flat black baker hat and layered black look including a coat and a fleece.

Sir Anthony’s appearance in Wales comes just weeks after it was revealed that his house was one of the many celebrity homes destroyed in the LA Wildfires.

The actor bought the four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in the Pacific Palisades area for $6 million (£4.9m) in 2021.

The home was devastated with just the foundations of the property remaining after the fire. Bizarrely, this isn’t the first home fire the actor has faced.

In November 2018, his former home narrowly escaped the Woolsey fire, and in 2000 he lost his home in Kensington, London to a fire.

After it was announced that his home had been destroyed in the fires, the actor took to social media to share a message about love.

The post read: ‘The only thing we take with us is the love we give.

‘As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give.’
