Universal Lands Hot Nathaniel Halpern Spec ‘Fight’ From 87North With David Leitch Directing

EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures and 87North are continuing to build on a strong relationship as sources tell Deadline the studio has landed Fight from the company, with David Leitch attached to direct from a spec script written by Nathaniel Halpern.
Plot details are being kept under wraps but given Leitch and 87North’s involvement, one can expect some high-octaine thrills with over the top action pieces.
Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, producers of the groundbreaking action films The Fall Guy, Bullet Train, and Nobody will produce through 87North’s first look-deal with Universal Pictures. Universal Pictures will release 87North’s next film with the Studio, Nobody 2, on August 15, 2025. John Schoenfelder and Russell Ackerman will produce, and Jay Schuminsky will executive produce for NeoText.
Executive Vice President of Production Development Jay Polidoro and Director of Development Tony Ducret will oversee the project for the Studio.
McCormick, Leitch and their 87North have a first look deal with Universal and have seen a strong slate through the relationship that has included Hobbs & Shaw and The Fall Guy, which Leitch directed as well as Nobody and Love Hurts. Leitch is currently in prep on his next pic How To Rob A Bank, which he will direct this summer and which stars Nicholas Hoult and Pete Davidson.
Halpern is the creator, showrunner, and sole writer of the critically acclaimed Tales From The Loop for Amazon which was produced by Matt Reeves with Mark Romanek directing the pilot.
Schoenfelder & Ackerman were most recently Executive Producers on the Netflix/AGBO film The Electric State. They are also Executive Producers of the upcoming Skydance film They Will Kill You starring Zazie Beet
